WOW!!! Our new Piano Lab is now open before school.  Please come in and play!

VC - We've just completed "Aura Lee" and most groups are testing on it this week. We talked about "Aura Lee", the folk song, and how Elvis Presley had a big hit with the same melody called, "Love Me Tender".  This relates to one of our standards for the week.

MHSIP.9a:  Understanding music and culture.

Please check out these 2 recordings of "Love Me Tender" and write one or two paragraphs comparing and contrasting these two recordings, including the rendition you just played on piano. You may include other familiar melodies that have stood the test of time and have been revived by a new generation.

VC Assignment

VC:

You are expected to write a one-page paper answering the following question:
"Why is self-control important in a choral class?"

All members of the class are expected to write this paper. It is due to Dr. Woolf or myself at the START of class (8:20) on Monday. This includes minors since you are a part of VC. Consider this blog post your notification.

You are expected to hold each other accountable for this assignment. If you are concerned that one or some of your classmates might not complete this assignment I would encourage you to get in touch with them over the weekend to remind them.

If we do not receive papers from 100% of you by the START of class on Monday we will reconsider you performing on the fall concert.

Sunday, October 12, 2014

Congratulations Company!!!!
I saw the show Friday and Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed both.
